Hello

Welcome to my page. I do watercolours, acrylics and oil painting. Dreamscapes was originally called 'SPACES'. Spaces was a gift from my daughter to me on my birthday in 2020. The purpose was to have a single place where I could put my paintings and share my creations with friends and family. In a sense, it was meant for a circle of people who knew me and were interested in my work.  I was happy with the traction the site gained in a short period of time. However, due to personal reasons, I couldn't keep it active, and the site closed down. However, I'm back again, but with a new name, 'Dreamscapes'. This site and the work I share here are part of my dream to paint.

Take a look around; perhaps you’ll discover an artwork that talks to you, and you will want to make it yours, or perhaps it will fuel you to find your own passion. Look on and enjoy!

About

Here's a little about me for whoever found their way here deliberately or stumbled upon this page. I was a banker until I quit in 2018, after twenty years, as I was relocating to India from Dubai. From banker, I am now a blogger by choice, a poet by accident, and an artist at heart. I am a novice in art, having begun painting only in late 2018 and writing a book of poetry alongside. I started painting regularly after April 2020, when we were locked in our homes due to Covid. Then again, I wrote my novel, 'Coming Home' alongside. My love for writing and art tends to keep me from focusing on only one. However, I have now realised that art is my meraki, my ikigai.

This site is proof that there is no age to finding your passion.

If you look around the site, you'll notice I do landscapes, still life and folk art. My paintings are inspired by the places I've travelled to or wish to travel to, and by paintings and photographs of mine and those I've seen on social media.

According to the art dictionary, my kind of art is called 'Appropriation', and artists like me are called 'Almost Original'.

'Good artists copy. Great artists steal' - Picasso

* Almost Original or Appropriation is a term that refers to an artistic strategy, the intentional borrowing, copying, and alteration of preexisting images, objects, and ideas.
